April 11th is International Louie Louie Day!

In 1963, a Seattle rock band called The Kingsmen released their version of the song: Louie Louie, written by Richard Berry in 1955. It became a huge hit. Although the beat was awesome, the studio recording was pretty rough, meant to sound like a live performance and no one could understand the lyrics. This fascinated people! So, they made up their own lyrics: "Louie Louie, eggs and bacon on white toast", for example. If you're interested, you can read the real lyrics below. Usually, made up lyrics to the song are so much more fun and creative. In AwesomeLand USA, we're saluting Louie Louie and making up our own lyrics all day!
